Exmouth United 5-1 Copplestone Colts

Another mammoth performance from Exmouth United against Copplestone Colts made it seven victories in eight matches for the home side. Exmouth began slowly but soon began stringing together some neat passing moves. Defenders Dylan Mogford, Harry Kifli-Reynolds, Owen Brady and Jack Greaves all demonstrating confidence and composure in their link up play with the midfield. After some promising attacks it was Finn Glanfield who made the break when he played a quick one-two with Bryn Stephens and fired it over the keeper from 20 yards. Glanfield then had a header cleared off the line when he connected cleanly with a Stephens corner.

At half-time it was still tight and the next goal went to the Colts who closed down a long ball to equalise. United showed their character by going straight up the other end to re-take the lead; Stephens pushed up the right wing and put in a tricky cross that the keeper parried and Jay Leballeur was there to smash in the rebound. From then on Exmouth took complete control, some clinical passing led to striker Cayleb Field receiving outside the box and shooting to make it 3-1. Fellow striker Kuba Strzalkowski was next score when Greaves fed him in the area and the he buried it in the corner.

When Copplestone attacked they were matched by centre-back Harry Bassett, right-back Tom Price and goalkeeper Lewis Alford who put in a very mature performance for the home side. As the game came towards an end Seb Harrison picked up the ball on the right wing and swerved his way in and out of the visiting defence until he reached the 6-yard box. He squared unselfishly to Stephens whose shot was saved, Kifli-Reynolds seized on the loose ball but was charged down then it fell to Lewis Evans who smashed a right-foot belter into the top corner - a fitting end to a commanding performance!
